Torquay - Bygones & Kents Cavern
Bygones Victorian Museum is a fascinating insight into Victorian life. Wander along the life size Victorian street with over 20 shops & period rooms set out with sounds and smells from a bygone age. It's like walking back in time. See the sweet shop and the grocers, the pawnbrokers and the pub, all exactly how they would have been in Victorian times. See how they lived in the Victorian times in the authentic room settings including a kitchen and nursery.
There are also other interesting displays such as the giant model railway, WW1 trench and Anderson shelter as well as authentic tearooms and gift shop. Bygones is a thoroughly enjoyable day out for all the family.
Incorporated within the English Riviera's Geopark and alone recognised as the most important stone age cave in Britain, Kents Cavern has revealed more about palaeolithic Britain than anywhere else. Highly commended tours take you through these 2 million-year-old caves to discover a unique history uncovered by Victorian archaeological explorers. Open July and August evenings for ghost shows.
