The Yorkshire Railways

A tour which features the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park, with two scenic railway journeys, and a visit to the historic city
of York.

Monday: Day 1
We depart Somerset and make the journey North to the Ramada Hotel in Wetherby, our base for five nights.

Tuesday: Day 2
A full day locally guided excursion through the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the pleasant market town of Appleby.
Board the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway for the journey south to Settle, for more wonderful dales scenery.

Wednesday: Day 3
Journey to Keighley, for a ride on the Keighley and North Valley Railway to Haworth, where there is time to explore the
‘olde worlde’ shops. We journey by coach to Oakworth Station, where scenes from The Railway Children were filmed, before
continuing to Oxenhope Station to rejoin the train fro the return ride to Keighley.

Thursday: Day 4
We visit York for an included Treasure Hunt around the city. Follow the clues to reach your final destination, whilst taking
in the history and culture of this walled riverside city.

Friday: Day 5
We visit Castle Howard, one of Yorkshire’s most spectacular historic houses, it is all the more remarkable, as the
Howard family continue to live in the house today. The house has been used many times as a setting for films and television,
with the most famous being Brideshead Revisited. In addition, the fabulous Rose Gardens and Fountains complete an
amazing visitor experience. We return mid afternoon for some time in our host town of Wetherby.

Saturday: Day 6
We depart the hotel, and via the motorway’s make our way back to Somerset.

Our hotel:
We stay at the modern 3* hotel Ramada Wetherby, situated in a semirural location, less than half a mile from the pleasant
market town of Wetherby. All of the hotel rooms are en-suite and are equipped with a television, direct dial telephone,
tea and coffee making facilities, and hairdryer.
