Enchanting Eastbourne

Situated on the Sussex Coast, Eastbourne is the perfect base to explore the miles of wonderful beaches, the lush surroundings,
and the stunning Sussex countryside. ·Victorian hotels line the seafront promenade, alongside the colourful lawns and gardens.
The waterfront offers a fantastic range of restaurants and bars from which to watch the boats go by.


Monday – Day 1

We travel east making our first stop of the tour in Arundel, a market town rich in history and culture, dominated by the
Norman Castle and Gothic Cathedral.· Arundel’s skyline is impressive from whichever direction you approach the town.·
This afternoon’s visit sees us move onto Arundel Castle, the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk which is set in 40 acres of sweeping
grounds and gardens.· Arundel Castle has been open to visitors for over 200 years and is one of the great treasure houses of
England.· We continue onto Eastbourne and the Best Western York House Hotel, our base for 4 nights.


Day 2
We spend a full day at leisure exploring the delights of our host resort of Eastbourne.


Day 3
We make our way to Tenterden Station where we join the Kent and East Sussex Railway – the country’s finest example of a
rural light railway – for a return trip through the unspoilt countryside of the Rother Valley to Bodiam.· We return to Tenterden
known as the Jewel of the Weald.· Its fine High Street ranks amongst the most attractive in the country, lined with trees, historic
houses, shops and restaurants.· We spend the remainder of the day exploring this picturesque Cinque Port before returning
back to Eastbourne.


Day 4
We make our way to the market town of Rye, with its enchanting cobbled streets, medieval church and beautifully preserved
houses from Medieval, Tudor and Georgian times.· In the afternoon we visit Hastings, another pleasant town with plenty to see
and do, including the Blue Reef Aquarium, St Mary in the Castle or the Old Town Ghost Walk.


Day 5
We visit the neighbouring coastal resort of Brighton.· The Royal Pavilion, the spectacular seaside palace of the Prince Regent
is an extraordinary oriental creation and houses some impressive artworks with a distinct and nostalgic feel.· The Lanes is the
historic quarter of Brighton – a maze of narrow alleyways lined with antique Shops, boutiques, elegant arcades and 400 year
old former fisherman’s cottages side by side with quaint pubs.· From Brighton we continue our westbound journey home.


Your Hotel
We stay at the recently refurbished Best Western York House Hotel, located in a quiet area of the Eastbourne seafront.·
Take a short leisurely walk to the pier or relax on the sun terrace at the front of the hotel.· Each of the 87 bedrooms are decorated
in a light and airy style with hairdryer, satellite TV, iron and ironing board
