Autumn in the Lakes and Dales

From the panoramic golden sands to the Lakeland Hills beyond, Morecambe’s charms go on and on.  There’s a lot to see and do in this historic seaside town.  Jump on an open top bus for a tour, have a coffee or an ice cream in one of the cafes lining the seafront or visit the Eric Morecambe statue, forever brining sunshine to the Promenade!  We return to the Auckland Hotel in Morecambe and as well as Morecambe enjoy the lovely scenery of these two National Parks.

MONDAY
We travel via the motorways north to the Auckland Hotel in Morecambe, our base for 5 nights.

TUESDAY
A leisurely morning as we spend some time at leisure in our host resort of Morecambe.  View the bronzed statue of Eric Morecambe, the town’s best-loved export and the many bird sculptures created by the Tern Project.  In town, enjoy excellent shopping and the traditional Lancashire welcome and hospitality extended to all visitors.  In the afternoon we visit the nearby city of Lancaster.  Lancaster is a vibrant university city with a wealth of history beginning its life as a Roman Fort in 80AD.  Its cobbled streets are lined with smart stone houses, filled with lively bars, shops and restaurants.

WEDNESDAY
We make our way to the attractive Market town of Skipton, situated in the Aire Gap and on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park - it is centred on its castle and market square and offers a High Street full of quirky shops and craftsmen’s workshops.  Wednesday is market day in Skipton, set on both sides of the High Street, you will be sure to find something for you.  We then head through the Yorkshire Dales and make our way to the Wensleydale Creamery Factory where we learn about the history and watch the cheese being made to savoring the finished product!

THURSDAY
We head to Haverthwaite where we join the Lakeside and Haverthwaite railway for the short journey to Lakeside.  Upon arrival we walk across the pier and take to the water as we take a 40 minute boat cruise to Bowness.  After disembarking, you will have time at leisure to explore this popular holiday village, before we continue north through the Lakes and to the pretty Lake District town of Keswick.  Keswick is located close to the Derwent Water, offering plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and galleries.

FRIDAY
Time to depart Morecambe and via the motorways we make our way back home to Somerset.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
