Blackpool Illuminations

Blackpool is a vivacious seaside resort, known throughout the world for its iconic tower, world-famous ballroom and dazzling annual illuminations display.  The Golden Mile remains the centre’s mecca of entertainment, a buzzing stretch along the promenade which connects the North and South piers where you’ll find a myriad of tourist attractions and traditional amusement arcades for some good old-fashioned fun. You can rub shoulders with celebrities in the famous Tussaud’s Wax Museum, see some of the rarest underwater creatures at the Sea Life Centre or see weird and wonderful things at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum. The Golden Mile also offers spectacular views of the resort’s expansive sandy beach where you can enjoy an afternoon building sandcastles, relaxing on a deckchair or enjoying a delicious picnic.

We travel via the motorways to the Imperial Hotel on Blackpool’s North Promenade.

We enjoy a full day at leisure in our host resort of Blackpool, which is the North’s biggest, brightest and best resort packed with excitement and enjoyment.  There is some super shopping and over 7 miles of beaches.

A chance to sit back and take in the scenery as we enjoy a full day excursion to the Lake District.  See the unique landscape of dramatic falls, deep lakes and pretty stone villages.  We head for Windermere – England’s largest natural lake.

We visit Oswaldtwistle Mills in Accrington, an award winning former weaving mill which has over 100 retailers under 1 roof, as well as 5 restaurants, an ice cream parlour, garden centre, mill grounds, craft and sewing centre, textile and heritage museum and even its own wildfowl reserve.  We can enjoy a spot of browsing and lunch before continuing on our way to Gawthorpe Hall.  Affectionally known as the ‘Downton of the North’ having been redesigned by Sir Charles Barry this Elizabethan gem is a stunning structure with a rich history.  The Long Gallery is home to portraits of society figures from the 17th century, some of which are on loan from the National Portrait Gallery in London.

Time for a last look at Blackpool before we make our late morning departure for home. An Illuminations tour will be provided on either the Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday evening.  The driver will inform you of this.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
