The Dutch Bulbfields & Highlights of Holland

Join us on a spectacular journey for the ultimate springtime experience, the spectacular Dutch bulbfields.  Marvel as we travel through the bulb growing region of Holland, where a carpet of colour covers the fields as far as the eye can see!  Millions travel the world to witness the beauty of the tulips as well as the daffodils, narcissi and hyacinths creating a kaleidoscope of colour, culminating in a visit to ‘The Greatest Flower Show on Earth’.

Set in 250 acres of rolling Hertfordshire countryside, we visit Knebworth House which is on of England's most colourful stately homes. It is remarkable for having been in the same family - the Lyttons - for more than 500 years and for its romantic exterior complete with turrets, domes and gargoyles, which conceals a red brick house dating from Tudor times. We continue to the ferry terminal in Harwich for the overnight ferry crossing to Hook of Holland. En-route we will make a stop for our evening meal at a local restaurant.

We disembark the ferry and travel through the bulb field region to Keukenhof Gardens. There will be time to explore and marvel at the vast array of flowers, not forgetting you can order bulbs to be sent to you at time of planting to make your garden at home the envy of neighbours! More than 7 million tulips, daffodils and hyacinths, create a spectacular display in the so called Garden of Europe, covering an area of over 32 hectares. Then, it is onto the 4 star Best Western Hotel, van Putten for a 3 night stay.

We travel across Houtribdijk, a 17 miles dike which was built between 1963 and 1975. Watch out for the radio station halfway. After arriving in Enkhuizen we board the musuem ship Friesland for a cruise to Medemblik. On arrival in Medemblik, ejoy lunch before boarding the steam train to Hoorn. Wooden carriages creak, wheels sing and steam hisses as you travel through the dutch countryside. During the spring time the bulbfields will be in full bloom.

We drive to Zaanse Schans, a living and working community that dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Watch traditional crafts such as clog and cheese making or visit the windmils and traditional buildings. Local charges apply for some attractions. We then continue to Voldendam, a pretty Dutch fishing village where the locals dress in typical costumes. There are plenty of tourist shops and restaurants to explore.

Leaving our hotel we head to the popular town of Arnhem, before our journey through Holland continues across the border and into Belgium. We head to Gent and the Europa Hotel for an overnight stay.

Following a hearty breakfast, we have the chance to explore Gent before we travel back to Calais for the short Channel Tunnel crossing to Folkestone ad from there via the motorways back to the South West.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
