Liverpool Tall Ships Festival

An international fleet of tall ships commences its race from 2018 from the City of Liverpool in 2018, coinciding with the International Mersey River Festival which is a celebration of Liverpool’s wonderful and historic waterfront in a three day extravaganza of family fun, amazing music and entertainment along the iconic River Mersey.  2018 also marks the 10th anniversary of Liverpool’s Capital of Culture and the subsequent celebrations mean there is even more to see and do as well as the usual shopping, museums and culture that Liverpool offers all year round.

SATURDAY
We depart Somerset and via the motorways we head to the Mercure St Helens Hotel at St Helens for a 3 night stay.

SUNDAY
We travel into Liverpool to experience the stunning spectacle of the Tall Ships Festival.  There is opportunity for visitors to step aboard many beautiful tall ships from across the world. 2018 also marks the 10th anniversary of Liverpool’s Capital of Culture and the subsequent celebrations mean there is even more to see and do during your northern city break. The International Mersey River Festival will also be taking place, offering a three day celebration of Liverpool’s wonderful, historic waterfront.

MONDAY
We head into Bolton where no visit is complete without sampling the award-winning fish and chips at the Olympus. Since opening over 26 years ago, the restaurant and take-away has become a firm favourite with Bolton residents and tourists.  After our fish and chip lunch we head to the seaside and to Southport  for an afternoon at leisure.  Here you can enjoy the beaches or a stroll in the King's Gardens, a 17 acre garden located in the centre of Southport Town Centre, on the Promenade. The gardens are a hive of activity all year.

TUESDAY
After departing the hotel, before heading home, this morning we stop at the wonderful Port Sunlight village, built by ‘Soap King’ William Hesketh Lever in 1888. The village was built to house Lever’s ‘Sunlight Soap’ factory workers, but today is home to a fascinating museum, beautiful architecture, a world-class art gallery, stunning parkland and a thriving community.  To ensure you have the best experience of Port Sunlight we have arranged for a guided tour.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
