South Wales

The south west is a picturesque corner of Wales which offers wonderful beaches, stunning and attractive villages.  The Pembrokeshire coast was Britain’s first coastal National Park.

We our way across the Severn Bridge and into Wales.   The first stop of our tour is at Llantrisant where the Royal Mint has opened its visitor centre.  Here we will see how blank pieces of metal are made before being struck to become coins. We can see the striking hall from a viewing area and will even have the opportunity to strike our own coin to take home! (Extra charge, not included). You’ll then have time to explore the interactive exhibition at your own pace and visit the gift shop and café.  Please note, visitors are required to undertake security checks and wear high-visibility vests.  Then it is on to the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel, our home for the next four nights.

We travel west to the Pembrokeshire coast, with a stop at Saundersfoot where you can take in views across Carmarthen Bay. Then it is onto the pretty picture postcard town of Tenby.  Here you can explore quaint streets, the 13th century medieval town walls, stroll around the picturesque harbour, visit Tenby Museum and Art Gallery or just relax on the golden sands of this beautiful resort.  You could also take a short boat trip to Caldey Island with its beautiful monastery or sit back and enjoy refreshments in one of the many restaurants and tearooms.

A morning at leisure in our host resort of Carmarthen which is the oldest town in Wales with its Medieval Lanes and fine Georgian Buildings.  Wednesday is Market day in Carmarthen - a must-see place which has been around for more than 800 years.  Although the market dates back to Roman times, it has been cleverly updated to become a Mecca for food-lovers, by offering some of the best local produce in Wales.  Our afternoon visit takes us to join the Gwili Heritage Railway.  We meet our train at Bronwydd Arms Station and take the return journey to Danycoed Halt.  A cream tea is included during our visit.

We travel to the Gower Heritage Centre where we meet our fully qualified guide who will take us on a tour of the Gower Peninsula.  During our tour we will learn how The Gower was the first place in Britain to be named an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and we will view many highlights of the area including the heights of Cefn Bryn, the historic “Arthur’s Stone” and the breath taking beauty of Rhossili beach and the Worm’s Head.  We then travel to the Mumbles, a coastal village steeped in tradition and history with an 18th century lighthouse, a Victorian pier, high-end shops, quirky galleries and craft shops where we can enjoy lunch at leisure and spend the afternoon relaxing.

Time to make our way home but before we do we are going to visit Brecon.  Here we enjoy a return trip on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal before re-join our coach, for our journey back across the Severn Bridge and home.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
