A chance to experience this dramatic and picturesque part of Wales

A chance to experience this dramatic and picturesque part of Wales

A dramatic and picturesque corner of Wales, we have included a variety of excursions on land, sea and by rail. With so much to see and do in the area you will return from this tour, well refreshed and fulfilled.

Monday - Day 1

We travel to the Beaufort Park Hotel, on the way we will stop at the award winning Gloucester Services for lunch. These services were the first family run motorway services on the UK roads. There are no franchises or fast food on the forecourts. Instead, a Farm shop selling locally produced food, a Butchery featuring meat reared from our own farms and a Kitchen serving homemade dishes produced daily using local ingredients. Proper food with locality and a sense of belonging is at the very heart of everything they do. They believe proper food matters. So they serve it where you’d least expect it - on the motorway. On arrival at the hotel you will be served Tea, Coffee and Bara Brith cake.

Tuesday - Day 2

This morning we will visit Conwy, one of Britain's best preserved medieval towns. It's ancient walls enclose a town of narrow cobbled streets, full of historic buildings dominated by the castle with its authentic atmosphere. In the afternoon we will journey to Beaumaris, in the southeast corner of Anglesey for a 75 minute Puffin Island Wildlife Cruise. With an abundance of wildlife in their natural habitat, look out for the seabirds, grey seals and possibly bottlenose dolphins! Time allowing we will return to the hotel via the stunning Snowdonia National Park.

Wednesday - Day 3

We are heading south this morning, travelling over the spectacular Horseshoe Pass to Llangollen. Enjoy a lovely horse drawn boat trip along the canal, which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to a rich variety of local flora and fauna. This afternoon is to the National Trust Erdigg Hall, one of the country's finest stately homes, built in 1864-1867 for Josiah Edisbury, the High Sherriff of Denbighshire. You will enjoy exploring this much loved house and garden which is filled with stories of the family and their servants, whom were held in unusually high regard.

Thursday - Day 4

Our first stop of the day is the small market town of Ruthin for some time at leisure. Ruthin is like nowhere else in Wales. It’s a surprising little town layered with centuries of history and set in one of the most beautiful landscapes in Britain. But that doesn’t mean modern life has passed us by. Here you’ll find elegant 21st century dining, stylish independent shops and a lively modern arts scene. Locals have just not let it change what’s always been best about the town. We then travel on to Bala for a delightful narrow gauge steam train journey through the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. The 9 mile return journey, alongside Bala Lake gives excellent views of the lake and surrounding scenery.

Friday - Day 5

Today we have to sadly leave our hotel to travel back to Somerset. On our way we will visit the World of Wedgwood where we will have a factory tour. Explore the manufacturing process in the heart of the Potteries, at Barlaston, the home of Wedgwood. On the Wedgwood Factory Tour we will see up close the craftsmanship, artisan skills and techniques honed over 260 years. The award winning tour offers an in-depth view of all aspects of bone china and iconic Jasperware production including casting, firing, glazing, figure making, decorating and hand painting, ornamentation and gilding. Afterwards you will have with time to spend in the many outlets.
