New for 2022, Our fantastic Northeast tour features great attractions around this beautiful coastal area.

Our fantastic Northeast tour features great attractions around this beautiful coastal area, including Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle, and visits to Newcastle and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Newcastle was founded by the Romans in the 2nd Century AD. The name Newcastle came about after a castle was built by William the Conquerors' son. Alnwick Castle, gained fame as Hogwarts Castle in the Harry Potter films.

Sunday - Day 1

Your holiday starts when one of our feeder vehicles collect you and your luggage from your doorstep. We will then depart the West Country and make our way via the motorway network to the Gosforth Park Hotel. We will make suitable comfort stops along the way. We will arrive at our hotel in time to unpack and freshen up for dinner.

Monday - Day 2

Today we make our way to the medieval market town of Alnwick which still retains many of its cobbled streets, narrow alleys and fine stone buildings. We will visit Alnwick Castle, one of the finest medieval castles in England which famously features as ‘Hogwarts’ in the Harry Potter films. In the afternoon we visit The Alnwick Garden, known locally for its Grand Cascade of 120 water jets, one of the largest treehouses in the world and of course gardens. There are plenty of refreshment opportunities before returning to our hotel.

Tuesday - Day 3

This morning we head to our host city. There we enjoy a free day at leisure in the glorious city of Newcastle, exploring the city’s many attractions and famous sights such as the Tyne Bridge or the Castle Keep that gave the city its name. Newcastle was founded by the Romans in the 2nd Century AD by Emperor Hadrian, of Hadrian's Wall fame, as Pons Aelius. The name Newcastle came about after a castle, called Novum Castellum (New Castle), was built by William the Conquerors' son, Robert Curthose. After exploring and shopping we return to our hotel by coach.

Wednesday - Day 4

After breakfast we take a drive along the scenic heritage coastline and cross the tidal causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, home to Lindisfarne Castle. We have time at leisure to explore and enjoy lunch before we visit Bamburgh Castle. Perched on rocks at the edge of the sea, the castle boasts magnificent views of the Farne Islands. We call at the pretty fishing village of Seahouses en route back to our hotel. Please note, today is subject to tidal times.

Thursday - Day 5

After breakfast, we will load the coach and bid farewell to the "canny North East" and return home via the motorways making suitable comfort stops along the route. Time for one more photo opportunity though, as we stop at the Angel of The North. The Angel was designed by Anthony Gormley and unveiled in 1998. Its 3 focal points are to remind us of the miners that worked beneath the statues's site, secondly to grasp hold of the future, and lastly to be a focus for our hopes and fears.
