Our Peak District Tour, with some new excursions for 2022

Our perfect Peak tour features a relaxing canal cruise through the peaceful Derwent Valley, a journey on Derbyshire’s longest heritage railway and visits to Crich Tramway Village, Cromford Mills and the National Brewery Centre Museum. A pudding making experience at The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop is the cherry on the cake!

Friday - Day 1

Today we will make our journey towards the north. On the way we will stop at Ross on Wye for an opportunity to stretch your legs and have lunch. In the afternoon we will continue our journey to our hotel. Ross-On-Wye is known as the birth place of Tourism, following on from the world's first tourist guide book, "Observations on The River Wye" by William Gilpin. It's a pleasant market town in the Wye Valley, once voted the UKs' "Best Loved Market Town"

Saturday - Day 2

After your breakfast this morning, we will enjoy a guided tour and tasting at the National Brewery Centre Museum in Burton-upon-Trent before we escape to the countryside on board Derbyshire’s longest heritage railway. As the glorious scenery passes us by on the 90 minute return journey, we will enjoy a cream tea in the Derbyshire Countryman Dining car (on selected dates this may be served in the café).

Sunday - Day 3

This morning we enjoy a 60 minute pudding making experience at The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop where we assemble our own original Bakewell Pudding to take home. In the afternoon we visit Crich Tramway Village, a period village museum where we can enjoy travelling along the traditional village street on a vintage tram, viewing the exhibitions and marvelling at the spectacular views.

Monday - Day 4

Cromford Cruise & Sir Richard Arkwright’s Cromford Mills. We begin our day in Cromford, from where we enjoy a return 2 hour narrow boat cruise through the picturesque Derwent valley. We finish our morning with free time to explore Matlock and have some lunch. In the afternoon we visit Sir Richard Arkwright’s Cromford Mills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We enjoy a mill and village tour to hear the story of how in the 18th century the valley changed the world with the first successful water powered cotton spinning mill.

Tuesday - Day 5

After breakfast, we will load the coach and start our journey home. On the way we will stop at Stratford on Avon for lunch and the opportunity to walk around and visit the quaint shops and coffee houses. Stratford-upon-Avon is a Warwickshire market town with more than 800 years of history, containing not only many buildings that survive today and would have been familiar to Shakespeare, but also a thriving community offering a wide variety of leisure, accommodation and shopping experiences
