North Wales Railways & Anglesey

Enjoy some of North Wales’ best railways as we travel through some of the breath-taking scenery of the Snowdonia National Park.  Also included is a visit to the Italianate village of Portmerion, a guided tour of the Isle of Anglesey as well as leisure time to explore the popular towns of both Llandudno and Caernarfon.

FRIDAY
We travel north via the motorways to the Celtic Royal Hotel in Caernarfon, our base for 4 nights.

SATURDAY
A leisurely morning as we spend some time in our host resort of Caernarfon - famous for its impressive castle built by Edward I and the investiture of Prince Charles in 1969.  In the afternoon we head to the nearby seaside resort of Llandudno.  Here you can enjoy the beaches, elegant promenades and stylish shops.

SUNDAY
Today, we enjoy a full day coach guided tour of Anglesey.  Our tour incorporates a scenic north coast drive through Benllech and Moelfre, a coffee break and visit to Llynon Mill and Celtic Village, before travelling through Holyhead up to the RSPB visitor centre at South Stack with time for lunch.  We continue via Treaddur Bay, past RAF Valley where Prince William was based and along the south west coastal route through quaint villages, visit an ancient burial chamber (subject to weather and client mobility) to Llanfair PG, for an afternoon stop, before returning to the hotel for 1630-1700 with photo opportunities of the famous two bridges en-route. (Please note that any admissions and refreshments are not included).

MONDAY
We drive to Llanberis in the shadow of Mount Snowdon and join the Llanberis Lake Railway for a ride along the lake shore. In the afternoon we join the Snowdon Mountain Railway as we travel to the summit of Mount Snowdon the tallest peak in England and Wales.   We will take a little time taking in the views at the summit before making the return trip back down to Llanberis. (please note this journey is very weather dependant)

TUESDAY
We join the Welsh Heritage Railway in Caernarfon and travel along the UK’s longest heritage railway, running for 25 miles past the foot of Snowdon and the village of Beddgelert, then through the stunning Aberglaslyn Pass and onto Porthmadog.  We leave the train behind and head to Portmerion, a stunning and colourful village on the picturesque Snowdonia Coast where you have time to explore this unique setting.  Made up of about 50 buildings and surrounded by acres of coastal and woodland gardens, Portmerion has been a location for many films such as ‘Dr Who’ and ‘The Prisoner’.

WEDNESDAY
Time to depart North Wales and via the motorways we make our way back home to Somerset.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
