A Jaunt Around Jersey

Jersey is the most southernly of the Channel Islands and has a feeling of home with a taste of the continent, so it’s no wonder holidays in Jersey are so popular. It has one of the best sunshine records in the British Isles and there’s plenty to see and do on this compact island. From beautiful beaches like St. Brelade’s Bay, 70 kilometres of dramatic coastline and stunning countryside, there’s a bit of everything.   Please note our coach does not travel to Jersey, so upon arrival at port you will be required to take your luggage on and off the ferry.  When we arrive on Jersey a local coach company will meet us and take us to the hotel and later on in the tour on all of our excursions.

Monday - Day 1

After your home pick up we meet the tour coach and then make the short journey to the Poole ferry terminal for our ferry crossing with Condor Ferries to St Helier and the Island of Jersey.  Upon arrival on the island a local coach will meet us at port and the transfer us the short distance to the Mayfair Hotel.  After check in you then have the remainder of the afternoon at leisure to explore St Helier.  The main streets of St Helier are within a ten minute walk of the hotel making it an ideal spot for you to explore the town at your own leisure.

Tuesday - Day 2

A full day tour of the coast of this beautiful island - we travel via St Aubin’s bay with its vast sandy beach to St. Brelade’s bay, regarded as one of Jersey’s most popular beaches due to its many family-friendly activities, seaside café and restaurants, before heading to Corbiere Lighthouse.  Standing 35 feet tall on a clear day, its light can be seen for 18 miles.   Our journey continues to St. Ouen’s bay where we visit the Jersey Pearl Centre before a visit to the relaxed fishing village of Gorey with its picturesque harbour and medieval Mont Orgeuil Castle.

Wednesday - Day 3

A morning at leisure for you to explore our host resort of St Helier - take a stroll along the Esplanade and visit the many attractions the town has to offer, including Elizabeth Castle (via the causeway at low tide and boat at high tide.  A small additional charge applies for the boat), the Jersey Museum and the Maritime Museum.  In the afternoon we re-join the coach and make our way to the La Mare Wine Estate.  Producing wine, gin, vodka, chocolate, jams and baked goods we enjoy a guided tour and some tastings before we finish off with a Jersey cream tea.

Thursday - Day 4

This morning, we visit the Pallot Steam, Motor and General Museum which houses a fascinating collection of steam, farm and other machinery as well as motor vehicles and vintage bicycles.  We then head to the Jersey War Time Tunnels, built during the German occupation of the island in the second World War.  Discover a story you will never forget - the true story of life in Jersey during the German occupation. The hardship, the heartache and the heroism, in the words of the people who were there. These intricate tunnels are over 1000m long, so some walking is needed, but the terrain is flat.

Friday - Day 5

After breakfast there is the chance for a little more time to explore St Helier before the coach comes to collect us and transfer us to the nearby ferry terminal for our return crossing back to Poole.  Here your South West Coaches tour coach will be waiting to meet you, and we load up and transfer the short distance back to the coach meeting point where the feeder coaches will be waiting to take you on the final part of the journey back to your home.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
