Often referred to as the sunniest place in Great Britain and nestled at the foot of the South Downs National Park, Eastbourne has been attracting holiday maker since Victorian times.  Famed for its Victorian buildings, fabulous seafront promenade and pier, Eastbourne also has some excellent shopping, with a mix of high street names and small independent boutiques along with miles of wonderful beaches.  This tour also features a guided tour of the beautiful South Downs National Park, an historic castle and pleasant train ride on the Kent and East Sussex Railway.

Sunday - Day 1

After your home pick up we head to the motorways and make our way eastbound, making the first stop of our tour at Wisley Gardens.  Wisley is the flagship garden of the Royal Horticultural Society and one of the great gardens of the world with 97 ha (240 acres) to explore.  It is home to some of the largest plant collections anywhere in the globe and showcases inspirational gardening. Planting schemes are constantly evolving to ensure there's always something new to excite and inspire visitors.  We then head to the south coast and to the Hadleigh Hotel in in Eastbourne, our base for 4 nights.

Monday - Day 2

Part of the reason for coming to Eastbourne has to be to enjoy being beside the seaside.  Today is a day to do just that as we enjoy a full day at leisure in our host resort where you can choose to spend it exactly as you wish.  Enjoy a gentle stroll along the flat promenade; enjoy the famous carpet gardens harbour and 1930’s bandstand as well as miles of wonderful beaches.  The town is also famed for its Victorian buildings, fabulous seafront promenade and pier, Eastbourne also has some excellent shopping, with a mix of high street names and small independent boutiques.

Wednesday- Day 3

From rolling hills to bustling market towns, the South Downs National Park is full of breath-taking views and hidden gems.  A blue badge guide joins us for as we head off and discover the rolling farmland, ancient woodland, lowland heaths and some of the picture perfect villages that make up the region.  We visit Lewes with its medieval streets, old English churches and tiny alleyways allowing you a glimpse into the true essence of bygone Lewes.  Also included is a visit to Newhaven Fort, built to defend the harbour at Newhaven – it was the largest defence work ever built in Sussex and is now open as a museum.

Thursday- Day 4

We visit Bodiam Castle, set in the heart of an historic landscape, with spiral staircases, battlements and a portcullis, a tower that was once a look-out and ruins that were once walked upon by knights.  In the impressive gatehouse is the castle's original wooden portcullis, an extremely rare example of its kind and, beyond into the courtyard, enough of the interior ruins survive to give an impression of castle life.  In the afternoon we join the Kent and East Sussex railway for a journey from Bodiam to Tenterden.  We then have some time in the tree lined high street of Tenterden before returning to the hotel.

Friday - Day 5

Time to start our journey home, though there is still time for us to visit the nearby vibrant and colourful regency resort of Brighton.  Here you will have the chance to experience the heritage of the Royal Pavilion, take a walk along the prom, a visit to the quirky antiques shops and boutiques of ‘The Lanes’ or take a ride of Volks Railway, Britain’s oldest electric railway.  We then make our early afternoon departure for then West Country to meet up with the feeder coaches who will conclude your journey back home.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
