Gardens of Suffolk

Situated on the east coast of England, Suffolk is a county filled with natural beauty, bordered by 50 miles of glorious coastline and topped with breathtaking skies. It's the perfect holiday destination, full of charming villages and medieval towns which draw in artists and writers, and its bounty of great produce and restaurants make it a special spot for foodies.

Sunday – Day 1

We travel via the motorways to East Anglia and to the Ufford Park Hotel in Woodbridge, our base for 4 nights.

Monday - Day 2

This morning, we will make our way to the spectacular Grade I Listed Helmingham Hall Gardens, surrounded by 400 acres of parkland and large herds of red and fallow deer. With a classic parterre, herbaceous borders, an orchard, walled kitchen garden, herb garden, rose garden, bridges and tunnels to discover, there is plenty to enjoy in this very beautiful garden. Our next destination is Aldeburgh is a pretty coastal town, famous for its connection with the composer Benjamin Britten. The High Street has plenty of shops to browse with an array of cafés, fish and chip shops and seaside ice cream parlours to discover!

Tuesday - Day 3

After breakfast we travel to the delightful medieval market town of Saffron Walden. A market has been held here since 1141, with market days now on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Don’t miss the beautiful Bridge End Garden, a restored Victorian garden with a wonderful yew hedge maze and sunken Dutch Garden. We then make our way to Audley End House & Gardens. Built in the 1600s and lived in until 1948, this Jacobean mansion has been re-dressed to evoke its Victorian heyday both above and below stairs. There are also stunning ‘Capability’ Brown landscaped gardens and horses to visit in the working stable block.

Wednesday - Day 4

This morning we visit the breathtaking Beth Chatto Gardens created by ten times Chelsea Gold Medal winner, Beth Chatto. During the Gardeners Tour we are given an in-depth insight into the philosophy and history of Beth Chatto and her gardens. We spend the rest of the day in Colchester, the oldest recorded town in the country. From a Roman Temple, Norman Castle and medieval timber framed houses to Victorian architectural splendor, there is plenty for us to explore at our leisure.

Thursday - Day 5

Time to depart Suffolk and via the motorways we make our way back home to Somerset.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
