Glorious Gardens of South Wales

South Wales boasts beautiful countryside, coastal towns, beaches and gardens – enjoy discovering the scenic locations on our fabulous tour taking in beautiful gardens and the popular and picturesque Gower Peninsula.

Friday – Day 1

We our way across the Severn Bridge and into Wales.   The first stop of our tour is at Llantrisant where the Royal Mint has opened its visitor centre.  Here we will how blank pieces of metal are made before being struck to become coins. We can see the striking hall from a viewing area and will even have the opportunity to strike our own coin to take home! (Extra charge, not included). You’ll then have time to explore the interactive exhibition at our own pace and visit the gift shop and café.  Please note, visitors are required to undertake security checks and wear high-visibility vests.  Then it is on to the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel, our home for the next four nights.

Saturday - Day 2

Today, we will visit the most popular garden in Wales, the National Botanic Garden. We will explore the Garden Lakes, the Japanese, Bee and Bog Gardens, the Great Glasshouse, the Ice House and the Mirror Pool, to name just a few of the attractions. In the afternoon, we will return to Swansea via the Marina and the National Waterfront Museum in which the Welsh industrial and maritime heritage story is told through a unique visitor experience, housed within a listed waterfront warehouse.

Sunday - Day 3

We travel to the Gower Heritage Centre where we meet our fully qualified guide who will take us on a tour of the highlights of the Gower Peninsula.  During our tour we will learn how The Gower was the first place in Britain to be named an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and we will view many highlights of the area including the heights of Cefn Bryn, the historic “Arthur’s Stone” and the breath taking beauty of Rhossili beach and the Worm’s Head.  We then travel to the Mumbles, a coastal village steeped in tradition and history with an 18th century lighthouse, a Victorian pier, high-end shops, quirky galleries and craft shops where we can enjoy lunch at leisure and spend the afternoon relaxing.

Monday– Day 4

We drive north to Bronwydd Arms Station to take the morning service on the lovingly restored Gwili Narrow-Gauge Railway as it winds its way north beside the River Gwili before returning to Abergwili junction and Bronwydd Arms Station. In the afternoon we travel to marvellous Aberglasney House & Gardens. With history dating from the 1600s this partially restored mansion features a sub-tropical indoor garden as well as 10 acres of exquisite landscaped gardens.

Tuesday - Day 5

Time to make our way home but not before the chance to explore another glorious gardens at Dyffryn, set within 55 acres and overlooked by an Edwardian mansion. Relax and draw your own horticultural inspiration from its yew-lined borders and imagine the sound of croquet being played on the nearby lawns more than 100 years ago.  We then re-join our coach and continue our journey home.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
