Looe - Our Cornish Delight at Easter

The pretty fishing town of Looe is a truly delightful and picturesque place, separated into two towns of East and West Looe by the River Looe flowing out to sea.  This five day holiday based in West Looe explores some of Cornwall’s most beautiful nooks and crannies, smugglers haunts, a gastronomical haven and home to TV’s Doc Martin.

Thursday – Day 1

We head to Plymouth where you can discover its stunning coastline views and learn about its history and heritage on board a 1-hour harbour cruise.  Departing from The Barbican Landing Stage, adjacent to the Mayflower Steps we sail across Plymouth Sound, flanked by the beautiful Devon and Cornish coasts.  Take in spectacular views of Plymouth Hoe and famous Drakes Island, heading for the Royal Naval Dockyard, where the mighty warships and submarines await.  We then cross the border into Cornwall and to the Portbyhan Hotel in Looe, after checking in spend some time relaxing over a tea or coffee admiring the spectacular views or go for a stroll around the quay before dinner.

Friday – Day 2

We travel west initially travelling to Polperro - a largely un-spoilt fishing village on Cornwall’s South East coast.  Its beautiful cottages cling to steep hillsides around a small harbour with spectacular views of land and sea making it an artist’s paradise.    Later we visit the St Austell Brewery Visitors Centre, where we discover the secrets behind St Austell's award-winning ales and the 160-year old brewing process.

Saturday – Day 3

We head to the north coast of Cornwall and initially to Port Isaac, or you may know it as Port Wenn from the television series Doc Martin.  Spend time meandering through the pretty village streets and alleyways that lead down to the lovely harbour.  We then head to Padstow, an ancient busy fishing port and a quaint harbour with bustling narrow streets and with pastel colour wash and stone cottages featuring quaint stores and cafes.  Home also to many Rick Stein eateries this is the perfect spot for lunch!

Sunday – Day 4

The Eden Project is our destination this morning – nestled in a huge crater, massive biomes house the largest rainforest in captivity.  In the afternoon we head to Mevagissey, a true Cornish gem with its maze of narrow alleyways and colour washed houses.

Monday – Day 5

We load the coach for our homeward journey, however before we depart enjoy the morning exploring our host resort of Looe.  The small harbour is still a busy fishing port, watch the ships unload their catches, witness the auctions and then after the bustle of the quayside retreat to the narrow streets.     Here you will find an abundance of art and craft shops, boutiques bars and specialist shops.  Looe really does have something for everyone.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
