Mighty Mid Wales

Mid Wales is bordered by two stunning National Parks and is also home to rich green landscapes, the unspoilt Ceredigion coastline, the stunning Cambrian Mountains and glorious castles, gardens and railways.  Discover some of these locations and attractions in this fantastic packaged tour which is based in a 4 star hotel near the centre of the town of Llandrindod Wells.  As its name implies, Llandrindod Wells was historically linked with the health-giving waters which it still provides for visitors today.

Sunday - Day 1

After your home pick up we set off on our journey making our way initally to the city of Hereford for the first stop of the tour.  Hereford has a lively feel with lots of things for you to see and do.  Wander around the independent stores in the historical centre and call into the adjacent brand spanking new prestigious Old Market.  Worth a visit is Hereford Cathedral which contains some of the finest examples of architecture from Norman times to the present day.  We then made our way to Llandrindod Wells and to the Metropole Hotel where we are booked in for a 4 night stay.

Monday - Day 2

Our morning excursion is to nearby Abbey-Cwm-Hir Hall - a Grade II listed historic house and one of Wales’ finest examples of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture.  Join the owners on a personal tour of this magnificent Hall which has been restored to its Gothic splendour.  Each of its 52 rooms is unique and there are stunning interiors, fascinating collections and 12 acres of beautiful gardens.  We then return back for an afternoon at leisure in our host resort Llandrindod Wells, whose towers and ornate ironwork reflect its heyday as a Victorian spa town.

Tuesday - Day 3

We take a scenic drive past through the Elan Valley - Elan is a beautiful and unspoilt area made even more compelling by the dams and reservoirs which together create a wonderful, living landscape.  We then head to the west coast and to the Victorian seaside resort of Aberystwyth, which is home to beaches, a lovely Promenade, a funicular railway, castle ruins and the National Library of Wales.  We have some time to explore the town before taking a nostalgic journey on the Vale of Rheidol narrow gauge steam railway through some wonderful scenery to Devil’s Bridge.

Wednesday - Day 4

We experience the beautiful and diverse scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park and include a stop in the town of Brecon itself with its medieval cathedral, Georgian facades and narrow streets full of craft and antique shops.  We then take a relaxing cruise through a lock and over an aqueduct on the historical Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, a fantastic feat of engineering which was built before roads and railways.  A cream tea is included as we sail along watching the world go by.  After our cruise we then head back to the hotel ahead of our evening meal.

Thursday - Day 5

We load the coach and depart the hotel but still include two more places for you to explore.  First we make a short stop in Hay-on-Wye, located on the Wales / England border, most of the town lies in Wales but eastern parts do encroach into England.  The town as famously known as the town of books with lots of second hand bookshops for you to explore.  Then it is onto Abergavenny which is a quaint Welsh market town that is surrounded by the Brecon Beacons.  Mid afternoon we get back aboard the coach and continue our journey back across the border and homeward bound.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
