Norfolk During Lavender Season

A East Anglian tour that is full of delightful contrasts, we start with the ancient and interesting city of Norwich with its beautiful cathedral quarter, its famous mustard shop, before we add in the beautiful fragrant lavender fields and then blend in the serene and picturesque Norfolk Broads for lovers of boating and wildlife.  We finish with an 18th century house for good measure!  Staying at the Best Western Brook Hotel on the outskirts of the city of Norwich it’s fair to say there is something for everyone on this five day tour.

Monday - Day 1

The holiday starts with a pick up from home by one of our taxis or minibuses which will bring you through to meet up with the tour coach.  Once on board we make our cross country journey to East Anglia and the 3 star Best Western Brook Hotel which is situated a couple of miles to the north west of Norwich City Centre.  We will make suitable comfort and refreshments stops throughout the journey.

Tuesday - Day 2

This morning we head to Aylesham Railway Station for a steam train ride today on the Bure Valley Railway through the picturesque Norfolk countryside to Wroxham.  Here you will have some time to explore the bustling High Street and you have the opportunity to grab a bite of lunch before we head to Wroxham Bridge for our 90-minute cruise on the Norfolk broads.  The tour boats are comfortable and well equipped. You and your fellow passengers will enjoy a commentary on your outward journey and allowed to take in the beauty of The Norfolk Broads National Park as you return to Wroxham Bridge.

Wednesday - Day 3

Today we head into Norwich City Centre where you will have a free day to explore at your own leisure.  Colman's Mustard shop is an interesting visit and the cathedral and riverside areas are beautiful. Norwich mixes the modern and historic, one complementing the other.  Like any great city its centre is easy to walk around and has a river at its heart.   It has a flourishing arts, music and cultural scene, superb independent as well as High Street shopping, restaurants and bars and a heritage that is a delight to explore. It was also England's first UNESCO City of Literature – this is a city of stories!

Thursday - Day 4

June, July and August see parts of West Norfolk burst into colour when the lavender blooms.  This morning we visit Norfolk Lavender, England’s Premier Lavender Farm – set in the tranquil garden of lavender, roses and herbs a visit to Norfolk Lavender is a truly relaxing and enjoyable experience.  We have a guided tour which explains the history and processes involved in Lavender production.  Then it is on to Holkham Hall, marvel in the 18th century architecture, stunning art, original furniture and classical statuary.  Be sure to take time to enjoy the six and a half acre walled gardens.

Friday - Day 5

After our breakfast we load up the coach and must sadly say goodbye to Norfolk as we commence our journey back to the West Country.  Making suitable comfort and refreshment stops en-route we head back to meet our feeder coaches early evening who will then conclude your journey back home.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
