North Devon Delights

North Devon is an enchanting, often forgotten region of the country with such a variety of beautiful countryside scenery – rolling hills, hidden woodlands, spectacular rivers, rocky coves and long sandy beaches and sleepy hidden hamlets

Sunday– Day 1

We had to Exeter for the first stop of our tour, here you will have time to explore the city at leisure, perhaps visit the magnificent cathedral, one of England’s finest, or discover the underground passages beneath the High Street and Quayside, or simply wander amongst one of the quaint streets and shops.  We then continue to North Devon and the Durrant House Hotel near to Bideford, our base for 5 nights.

Monday - Day 2

We visit Dartington Crystal one of the few remaining manufacturers of hand-crafted crystal in the UK.  The factory tour reveals the craftsmen at work before a chance to browse for gifts in their extensive factory shop.  In the afternoon we travel to the privately owned fishing village of Clovelly – there is no traffic on the cobbled main street that winds its way down a cleft in a 400 foot cliff between carefully preserved cottages to the 14th century harbour.

Tuesday – Day 3

This morning we make our way to RHS Gardens at Rosemoor.  Nestled in a Devon valley, Rosemoor blends formal and informal planting to great effect, with several gardens to explore including a steam and rock gully, cottage garden and stone garden.  In the afternoon we head for the historic harbour town of Bideford with its traffic free lanes filled with quirky little shops.

Wednesday - Day 4

Today we journey through the Exmoor National Park, We visit the charming seaside resort of Ilfracombe.  Enjoy a stroll along the promenade to discover the delights of the historic harbour and seafront before it is onto We travel to the twin resorts of Lynton and Lynmouth, where we spend some time at leisure.  Lynmouth with its picturesque Harbour is nestles below some of the highest sea cliffs in England, and has many Gift shops restaurants and pubs and for those, whom are a little more energetic some fantastic walks with views that will take your breath away.  Lynton which is perched high above Lynmouth (500ft), has its own Town Hall, Museum, Cricket ground and shops   Just a short walk from Lynton centre you will find the Valley of Rocks and it’s famous goats, a great way to while away some time exploring.  Connecting the twin villages is the Famous Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway built by the Victorians.

Thursday - Day 5

We head along the north Cornish coast to the pleasant towns of Boscastle and Padstow.   Some cider tasting is included at a local cider farm to finish off our day !

Friday – Day 6

Time to commence our journey home, though we still have a fully packed day.  We head to Barnstaple for some time at leisure before continuing to nearby Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum, an unexpected jewel on the edge of Exmoor and a family home for over 500 years.  The carriage museum houses vehicles ranging from ornate, silver plated coaches to humble carts used to carry servants. We re-join the coach and make our way back home.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
