North West Winter Warmer

We stay at the Beaufort Park Hotel in the North Wales village of New Brighton. An independently run hotel which offers a warm welcome, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere but a hotel that is also ideally situated for the programme of excursions on offer. We combined the old and the new as we explore the historic city centres of Chester and Liverpool with over 1000 years of history in Chester Cathedral on its own. Then onto the new and a guided tour of the BBC at Media City UK in Salford, opened in 2011 and the new northern home of the BBC's output.

Monday - Day 1

Your home pick up will take you to meet the main tour coach where we all join up together before heading to the motorways to commence our journey north. We will make suitable comfort stops throughout the journey as we head to the Beaufort Park Hotel in the Flintshire village of New Brighton. After checking-in and being shown to your room, you will be able to sit and relax with your fellow travellers in the lounge with a well deserved cup of tea or coffee as well as some tasty cake before having some time to freshen up before your evening meal.

Tuesday - Day 2

We visit Chester which has the most complete city walls and largest Roman Ampitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000 year old Cathedral and 700 year old unique shopping rows. In the afternoon we visit Chester Cathedral a place that is many things to many people: a vibrant community of worship, an ancient abbey, an archaeological treasure, a cultural hub, a centre of musical excellence and a unique blend of modern and medieval history. We take a 75 minute tour of the building before sitting down to a traditional Afternoon Tea in a thirteenth century monk’s dining hall.

Wednesday - Day 3

We head to Media City UK - the BBC's new northern home and one one of the most ambitious projects in the BBC's history. Well-informed and friendly tour guides will entertain and surprise you as you walk in the footsteps of your favourite stars. You'll see the most interesting areas available, as well as being given a fascinating insight into how TV and radio work. You can also have a go at making your own news and weather bulletin in the interactive studio. After our tour we head to the nearby Trafford Shopping Centre for an afternoon at leisure.

Thursday - Day 4

This morning we enjoy a fascinating two hour guided coach tour of Liverpool, where you can marvel at the history, heritage and architecture of this vibrant city. Then, you have the remainder of the day at leisure to look a little closer at some of attractions you have seen – the two cathedrals, the historic waterfront including the Albert Dock, the largest collection of Grade I listed buildings in Europe, Tate Liverpool. The Maritime Museum, Beatles Story and Pier Head, where you may decided to take a boat trip along the River Mersey.

Friday - Day 5

After breakfast we load the coach and begin our journey home. We head to Shrewsbury, Shropshire's county town for a late morning / lunch stop. Founded by the Saxons and most extensively developed by Tudors, Shrewsbury lies within a giant loop of the river Severn and is famed for its castle, spires, abbey, parklands and half-timbered medieval houses. Shrewsbury is also full of higgledy-piggledy streets with names you want to say out loud! Early afternoon and back aboard the coach for our journey south, meeting up with the feeder vehicles to return you back home.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
