Scarborough and The North Yorkshire Moors

Scarborough has retained the charm and style established in its Victorian heyday.  Its elegant architecture, many interesting little shops and attractive gardens make it a resort to relax and potter in.  Nearby the North Yorkshire Moors National Park provides a beautiful contrast with spectacular viewpoints and visitor attractions.

Saturday – Day 1

We travel via the motorways north to the Esplanade Hotel in Scarborough, our base for 5 nights.

Sunday - Day 2

A free day to explore Scarborough, enjoy the delightful, promenade and the attractive Belvedere Gardens.  Maybe, take a short walk across the Spa footbridge to the town centre and shops or take the cliff lift down to the golden beaches of the South Bay and the busy little harbour.

Monday - Day 3

We travel to the splendid historic city of York.  Renowned for its exquisite architecture, tangle of quaint cobbled streets, iconic York Minster and wealth of visitor attractions, York is a flourishing city.  Delve into the city’s vibrant cafê culture, take time out to enjoy some of the country´s most talented street entertainers or simply watch the world go by while sipping a drink by the river.  Visitors to York can enjoy hundreds of attractions, museums, historic buildings, tours, shops, restaurants and bars within the compact walled city. York is a place of contrasts, a medieval walled city with the ancient shops of the ‘Shambles’, the magnificent Minster, historic churches, intriguing museums and offering the best of modern shopping. In fact something for everyone!

Tuesday - Day 4
We enjoy a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Pickering to Goathland.  The 18 mile line runs through the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park.  Goathland Station is better known as both Aidensfield in TV’s Heartbeat and Hogsmeade in the first Harry Potter film.  We then continue our journey across the moors to Whitby. Standing on the River Esk Whitby is a quaint old fishing town where fishermen can still be seen mending their nets outside of their cottages in the narrow streets and alleys.

Wednesday - Day 5

We head to Castle Howard, one of the grandest private houses in the country and made famous for its starring role in the television series Brideshead Revisited.  The 18th century residence is set within 1,000 acres of breath-taking landscape dotted with temples, lakes, statues and fountains.  We then head to the traditional seaside resort of Filey, the gentle pace of life, long sandy beach and historic promenade have attracted visitors for years.

Thursday - Day 6

Time to depart Scarborough and via the motorways we make our way back home to Somerset.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
