Snowdrop Time In Scotland

A great new break to Scotland during the delightful Snowdrop Season, based at the resort of Blairgowrie on the edge of the Scottish Glens. Discover the emerging snowdrops that signal the change from winter to spring as we visit gardens in the Perthshire area. We also visit historic Gretna Green, plus Pitlochry and Perth alongside some whiskey tasting at Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery.

Saturday - Day 1

Your home pick up will take you to meet the main tour coach where we all join up together before heading to the motorways to commence our journey north. We will make suitable comfort stops throughout the journey as we cross the border into Scotland. Just over the border is the Gretna Hall Hotel where we have an overnight stay. Set in 10 acres of beautiful gardens; offering all the character of a substantial historical building, with all the comfort you would expect from a contemporary hotel.

Tuesday - Day 2

We spend some time at leisure in the Gretna Green - The Famous Blacksmiths Shop, situated at the heart of the village, is the world-famous, historic home of the anvil wedding and has been at the centre of runaway love, since the Marriage Act of 1754. ???, we then re-join the coach and continue our journey through some lovely Scottish Scenery to Blairgowerie and the Angus Hotel where a warm welcome awaits us at this delightful 3* hotel situated in the centre of Blairgowrie, a picturesque town nestled in the foothills of the Sidlaw Hills.

Wednesday - Day 3

Leaving after breakfast we travel north to the Bridge of Cally then through Strathardle to Pitlochry and on to Blair Atholl for an included visit to Blair Castle Gardens. In the early afternoon we return to Pitlochry for some time at leisure – Pitlochry is a delightful town in a spectacular setting under the skyline of Ben Vackrie (at 2760 feet), it is well known for its salmon ladder and has some lovely Victorian architecture, independent shops and tea rooms. We then head back to the hotel travelling via Dunkeld and Butterstone.

Thursday - Day 4

Leaving Blairgowrie we travel south first to Meikleour then on to Birnam, then we follow the route of the Tay to Aberfeldy for a visit to Clunie House Gardens. Along with snowdrops and cyclamen the gardens contain some of the giant Wellingtonias of which one is Britain’s widest conifer with a girth of 11 metres. In the afternoon we head to the nearby Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery for a guided tour of the distillery as we discover how Aberfeldy Single Malt is created.

Friday - Day 5

Our final day in the Perthshire hills takes us on two visits to snowdrop gardens in the local areas and then time to in our host resort of Blairgowrie. You may like to make use of the hotel’s facilities, or take a stroll through town and browse the shops.

Saturday - Day 6

After a leisurely breakfast it is time to say goodbye to Blairgowrie as we start our journey home. We make the short journey south to Perth, a small Scottish city located on the banks of the River Tay, once Scotland’s capital. As well as the usual shops in the city centre, the striking St John’s Kirk (church) is the perfect place to pause and soak up the atmosphere. We then re-hoing the coach and head once more to the Gretna Hall Hotel, for an overnight stay.

Sunday - Day 7

After a leisurely breakfast we re-join the coach and head back across the border into England. Via the motorways we head south making suitable comfort stops en-route at motorway service stations, as we aim to arrive back in Somerset early evening. You will then transfer onto your feeder coach to conclude your journey back home.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
