The Best of the Peaks and Summer Wine Country

The Peak District is a region of contrasting natural beauty with moors and dales, rivers and caverns, market towns pretty villages and historic houses.  This tour brings together the best that region has to offer.

Sunday - Day 1

We join the motorways and head north to Wortley Hall in South Yorkshire and on the edge of the Peak District National Park, our base for a 4-night stay.

Monday - Day 2

Enjoy a fascinating tour of the house and gardens at Wortley Hall, originally an ancestral home, which is steeped in history and heritage. We then head to the popular North Derbyshire market town of Chesterfield, famous for and dominated by its ‘Crooked Spire’.  Chesterfield in 2013 was voted best Coach Friendly Town at the coach tourism awards.  You are free to explore the shops, cafes and attractions as you walk amongst the cobbled streets.

Tuesday - Day 3

Head into the Peak District and visit the magnificent and stately Chatsworth House, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.  The house contains works of art that span 4,000 years from ancient Roman and Egyptian sculpture to masterpieces by Rembrandt, Reynolds and Veronesse.  There are over 30 rooms to explore as well as some impressive gardens including the historic Cascade, Victorian rock garden and maze.  Then is it onto Bakewell, a popular town with historic buildings, attractive courtyards independent shops and cafes and famous Bakewell Pudding.

Wednesday - Day 4

Today we explore Summer Wine Country – Holmfirth is a quirky and lovely market town and is home to Nora Batty’s steps, Sid’s Cafe and Compo’s former home, which is now the Last of the Summer Wine Exhibition and Wrinkled Stocking Tea Room. Enjoy a truly unique 45-minute TV locations tour in and around Holmfirth on a narrow-bodied 25-seater coach. We re-join the coach and head to the spa town of Buxton renowned for its Georgian and Victorian architecture - much of it linked with the 5th Duke of Devonshire's ambitions to create a spa town to rival Bath back in the 18th century.  We then travel back to the hotel via Castleton, one of the most picturesque villages in the Peak District.

Thursday – Day 5

We re-join the coach for our journey back home.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
