Wales in a Nutshell

Experience the best that Wales has to offer in this wonderful tour offering your groups a true Welsh experience. Taking in some of the most beautiful scenery and popular attractions from both the north and south of the country, Wales never fails to leave a lasting impression…

Sunday – Day 1

We head to the motorways and make the journey to North Wales and to the Royal Victoria Hotel, Llanberis in the heart of Snowdonia National Park.  We check in here for a 3 night stay.

Monday – Day 2

This morning we enjoy a scenic tour of the Snowdonian countryside as we head to Betws-y-Coed, North Wales’ most popular inland resort.  This picturesque Victorian village nestled within a beautiful wooded valley is surrounded by waterfalls, hill-top lakes and ancient bridges.  We then make our way to Bodnant Gardens, spread over 80 acres on the western slopes of Snowdonia, above Conwy.  The garden consists of two parts: an upper garden and a lower garden, both of which contain a wide range of interesting and beautiful plants from all over the world. This afternoon we continue along the coast to the Menai Bridge which takes us over the Menai Straits to the island of Anglesey and the town of Beaumaris, this pretty seaside town is home to a Victorian pier and pastel painted houses and also has a wide range of shops, tea rooms and pubs.

Tuesday - Day 3

We enjoy a scenic trip on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, a narrow gauge track and pinion railway that will take us from Llanberis to the summit of Mount Snowdon, the tallest peak in England and Wales.  We spend a little time taking in the view at the Summit Visitor Centre, before making the return trip to Llanberis.   The remainder of the day is at leisure in our host resort of Llanberis village.

Wednesday - Day 4

We travel to the beautiful village of Portmeirion.  Created by the architect Clough Williams-Ellis from 1925 to 1975, he wanted to pay tribute to the atmosphere of the Mediterranean and show how a naturally beautiful site could be developed without spoiling it.  At this unique place we visit the lovely gardens, picturesque village and shops before a chance for lunch (not included) in one of the six restaurants.  We then continue south to Carmarthen and the Ivy Bush Royal hotel, where we stay for the next three nights.

Thursday - Day 5

Today, we enjoy a guided tour of Picton Castle, which has been owned by the same family since the 13th century.  A unique property, being half castle and half fortified manor house, the castle is surrounded by beautiful woodland gardens and a magnificent walled garden. This afternoon we make our way to the picturesque seaside resort of Tenby, from where we can enjoy fantastic views of Caldey Island, stroll around the pretty cobbled streets of the old town or simply enjoy the beach and harbour area.

Friday - Day 6

We visit the picturesque seaside resort of Mumbles, before continuing around the Gower Peninsula to visit the Gower Heritage centre.

Saturday – Day 7

We depart the hotel and travel to Llantrisant, home of the Royal Mint Visitor Centre. Here we will be greeted by our Visitor Host who will lead us to one of the manufacturing areas to discover how blank pieces of metal are made before being struck to become coins. We will see the striking hall from a viewing area and will even have the opportunity to strike our own coin to take home! (Extra charge, not included).  We then re-join the coach and continue our journey home.

Hotel Information

Few hotels can command such breath-taking views as the Royal Victoria Snowdonia Hotel. In Llanberis – the hotel offers 104 well decorated bedrooms, a stylish restaurant, a cosy pub-feel bar, an elegant lounge and beautiful gardens with stunning views. Though the hotel does have a lift it does not go to all floors. In South Wales we stay at 3 star The Ivy Bush Royal, located in the centre of Carmarthen and has been sympathetically extended over the years.  All of the hotels 70 bedrooms are en-suite and have television, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities.  There is a lift to all floors.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
