White Cliffs Country and Folkestone

Kent has played a significant role in Britain’s maritime history and has been on the frontline of England’s shores for centuries.  Based in Folkestone this tour includes a visit to the iconic Dover Castle and its evocative Wartime Tunnels, the Battle of Britain Memorial atop the famous White Cliffs, a steam train ride, and a visit to a popular city centre.

Sunday - Day 1

We head to the south east and Kent – The Garden of England.  The first stop of the tour is at Penshurst Place and Gardens, once owned by Henry VIII.  Visitors can see the impressive medieval Baron’s Hall, the state rooms and parkland.  We then continue to Folkestone and the Best Western Plus Burlington Hotel, our base for 3 nights.

Monday – Day 2

We take a drive along the coast to Dover, home to those iconic white cliffs. Here we visit Dover Castle and take a tour around a fully furnished 12th Century Royal Palace and enjoy a unique visitor experience in the Secret Wartime Tunnels. We then take a fascinating guided tour of the Underground Hospital. Following this we make our way to the Battle of Britain Memorial in Capel-le-Ferne, a poignant tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of those who served their country.

Tuesday - Day 3

We visit Canterbury where you have free time at leisure to explore the historic architecture and winding lanes and streets of the city centre.  Perhaps take a visit to the Cathedral, one of the oldest in England.  We then head to the Thanet Coast and spend some time in the traditional seaside resort of Margate – ‘The Original Seaside’ brimming with artistic offering and traditional seaside fun.

Wednesday - Day 4

Time to commence the journey home however we still have an action packed day today – we travel to the picturesque market town of Tenterden for some time at leisure – its fine High Street must rank amongst the most attractive in the country with historic houses, shops, restaurants and pubs and its tree-lined grass verges.   We then head to the station for a return steam train journey to Bodiam with the Kent & East Sussex Railway whilst enjoying a delicious Ploughman’s lunch. After our rail journey, we re-join the coach and head for home.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
