Donegal, Sligo & The Wild Atlantic Way

Our new tour to Ireland’s North West offers a slice of the new Wild Atlantic Way at Sligo & Donegal including magnificent Lissadell House & Europe’s tallest sea cliffs at Slieve League.

Via the motorways we head north, travel through North Wales and to the Kinmel Hotel in Abergele for an overnight stop

An early start today as we head to the Holyhead Ferry Terminal for our morning ferry across the Irish Sea to Dublin.  From there we continue through Cavan and Navan into the fabulous Fermanagh Lakelands before arriving in Sligo for a 3 night stay.   Free time to explore this pretty town on the banks of the Garravogue River, with its art galleries and literary heritage. We then continue to the Clayton Hotel in Sligo for a 3 night stay.

Sligo was crowned the ‘Land of Heart’s Desire’ by WB Yeats, and the beauty of this region explains why he displayed such passion for his homeland. Begin with a visit to Lissadell House, an elegant Regency mansion with striking interiors and galleries set in beautiful grounds offering sweeping views of Sligo Bay, then finish with a drive around Lough Gill to find Parkes Castle.

A day exploring the Wild Atlantic Way begins with a scenic drive along the edge of Donegal Bay to the Folk Village at Glencolmcille.  One of Ireland’s best living-history museums with its collection of traditional thatched cottages perched on a hillside overlooking Glen Car Bay. Another highlight of your tour awaits with a trip to the viewpoint on Slieve League to see these incredible sea cliffs 2000ft above the Atlantic - a truly wild and wonderful sight.

From Sligo we head to Carrick on Shannon, one of Ireland’s fastest growing inland resort.  Boasting an abundant offering of top class restaurants, visitor attractions and shopping, there is plenty to keep you and yours entertained for hours.  We take to the water and take a relaxing one hour cruise on the River Shannon on the luxurious Moon River pleasure cruiser. Enjoy the onboard entertainment and light refreshments, or sit on deck for a riverside view of the beautiful surroundings.  Then it is onto the Royal Hotel at Bray for an overnight stop.

We catch the morning ferry back to North Wales and via the motorways continue our journey home.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
