Captivating Cornwall

The historic twin towns of East and West Looe are located in South East Cornwall and offer everything from beautiful sandy beaches, accessible walking routes, fishing trips, unique boutiques, restaurants and bars.  Whether you come for the culture and history or just to enjoy the beach and the sea, the small coastal town of Looe has plenty to offer everyone.  We return to the ever popular Portbyhan Hotel, situated in an unrivalled position right in the heart of Looe, allowing guests to relish the panoramic views of the vibrant harbour with only a short stroll into Looe town

Thursday - Day 1

We head to Exeter where we will drop you close to the Royal Albert Memorial Museum. Exeter’s world-class museum has stunning displays and galleries, fabulous exhibitions and modern amenities. The displays reveal Devon and Exeter’s rich history and global connections. Exotic animals, birds and insects delight children and the World Cultures galleries display stunning items from all over the world. The Guildhall Shopping Centre is nearby. We then head to the Portbyhan Hotel in Looe, after checking in, spend some time relaxing over a tea or coffee admiring the spectacular views or go for a stroll around the quay before dinner.

Friday - Day 2

This morning we will take a 13 mile trip on the Bodmin and Wenford Railway in a steam train. The line runs from Bodmin Parkway to Boscarne Junction via the principle station at Bodmin General. The line is steeply graded for most of it's length and has many curves. The spectacular scenery including a viaduct, Charlie's Gate and views across to Halgavor Moor. In the afternoon we will visit the quaint old Cornish fishing village of Polperro. Narrow streets and pretty cottages cling to steep hillsides around a small harbour with spectacular views. The streets are so narrow that cars are banned so exploring on foot is ideal.

Saturday - Day 3

Today we will spend the day at the Eden Project. Famous for it's iconic bubble-domes, which house the world's largest indoor Rainforest and simulate the Mediterranean microclimate. The Eden Project is an award-winning attraction which transports you to all four corners of the globe to experience the unique sights, smells and climates of the world's diverse eco-systems. For the best view in the house, trek across the gravity-defying 165ft Canopy Walkway for breath-taking aerial views of the rainforest. Afterwards, travel through the clouds on the Cloud Bridge, but get ready to shelter in the Rain Shack because there's a storm brewing!

Sunday - Day 4

We load the coach for our homeward journey. On the way back we will visit the newly updated attraction of Bodmin Jail. Cornwall’s County Gaol re-opened in 2020 after an £8.5 million re-development in May. One of Cornwall’s leading historical sites, is unlocking its doors for a brand new era, unveiling a new-look and ‘Dark Walk’ visitor experience. As part of a wider, £40 million re-development of the Jail, visitors will be able to discover Cornwall’s most haunting histories in a truly immersive and interactive way. Early afternoon it is back aboard the coach as we travel back to the coach meeting point where you join your feeder coach for the journey home.
