A wonderful opportunity to enjoy Christmas at leisure. No food shopping, no cooking, just peace and quiet

A wonderful opportunity to enjoy Christmas at leisure. No food shopping, no cooking, just peace and being waited on by attentive staff. You will also have several opportunities to do some last minute Christmas shopping. The details here are based on the 2023 Turkey and Tinsel tour and the program for 2024 may change slightly

Day 1

CHRISTMAS EVE. This morning we will commence our leisurely journey to our hotel in Torquay. On the way we will stop at the House of Marbles. Their main business is to produce quality vintage & traditional toys, games,
gifts and books, but you’ll find there’s so much more to do here than just shop! Be amazed at the huge marble runs which you can interact with. They have been around since 1973, supplying customers worldwide with their own unique range, designed right there at the Head Office in Bovey Tracey. The site has grown over time to become the shops, glassworks, restaurant, games garden & museums you’ll see today. Have lunch here at The Old Pottery Restaurant. On arrival at the Hotel you will receive Tea and Coffee.

Day 2

CHRISTMAS DAY. Today we will spend the morning in Plymouth to do some last minute shopping for Christmas. A walk around the decorated shops while the waft of roasting chestnuts surrounds you. In the afternoon, tea will be served in the hotel with Christmas Cake. In the evening you will have a traditional Christmas dinner with a gift from Father Christmas. After dinner there is music and dancing.

Day 3

BOXING DAY. A day at leisure in Torquay today. There is an optional morning trip to the Endsleigh Garden Centre to see the decorations and maybe a bit more Christmas Shopping. Back at the hotel we will have afternoon tea with mince pies. In the evening we will have dinner, music and dancing.

Day 4

NEW YEAR'S DAY. This morning we will visit the Kent’s Cavern, Britain’s oldest known prehistoric home. You will be led by a guide through a labyrinth of undergound natural passages used by humankind for thousands
of years. Neanderthals and the very first Britons occupied the caves. Here Victorian explorers combined geological time and fossil remains to reveal the antiquity of humanity. See natural caverns, amazing formations, remains of mammoth, woolly rhino, sabre-toothed cats. There is a shop and restaurant with views over the Ilsham Valley.

Day 5

We journey home today via The World of Country Life all-weather attraction. It has an eclectic mix of museums, animals, play areas and entertainment, both outdoors and undercover, making it an excellent day out for the whole family, whatever the age, whatever the weather! With a busy programme of daily activities, a museum of farming, extensive vintage vehicle collection, acres of indoor and outdoor play areas, a wide variety of animals to interact with and our fantastic Farmer Lees Food Barn, a visit to World of Country Life is a trip to remember!
