Harrogate and the Yorkshire Dales

Harrogate is famous for its horticulture, historic buildings and natural springs. Set in the heart of Yorkshire, the region is one of the most spectacular areas of England with attractive towns and villages, historic houses, castles, abbeys, exquisite gardens and beautiful countryside.

Sunday - Day 1

Via the motorways we head north to Harrogate and the Old Swan Hotel for a 4 night stay.

Monday - Day 2

We visit Harewood House, one of the Treasure Houses of England – this historic Georgian property sits within “Capability” Brown designed landscape with remarkable views from the award winning Terraces.  Go inside and you’ll be blown away by rare Chippendale furniture and jaw-dropping interior designs on the State Rooms. In the afternoon it is onto one of Yorkshire’s most relaxing and innovative gardens - RHS Harlow Carr, a a showcase of horticultural excellence all year round!  Wonder through the tranquil surroundings of this stunning 58 acre garden and gain ideas for your own borders, or simply relax with family and friends on a leisurely stroll.


Tuesday – Day 3

We enjoy a circular tour through the picturesque Yorkshire Dales scenery with a photo opportunity at the famous Ribblehead Viaduct on your way to the lovely town of Hawes, which is also home to the Wensleydale Creamery, made famous by Wallace & Gromit.   We continue to Leyburn for an authentic heritage railway trip on the Wensleydale Railway to Leeming Bar, before returning to Harrogate.

Wednesday – Day 4 

A full day at leisure giving you a chance to explore our host resort of Harrogate, with its magnificent buildings, colourful banks of flowers, broad tree-lined boulevards and diverse range of shops.  Attractions include the Royal Pump Rooms Museum, the Mercer Art Gallery and of course the famous Betty’s Tea Rooms.

Thursday - Day 5

Today we visit the Emmerdale Studio experience - discover behind-the-scenes secrets as The Emmerdale Studio Experience showcases the entire ‘lights-camera-action’ process of creating an episode of Yorkshire’s favourite soap.  Get exclusive glimpses into how the cast and crew tell the gripping stories and capture the spectacular stunts you see on your screens.

Friday – Day 6  

Time to depart Harrogate and via the motorways we make our way back home to Somerset.

Surrounded by picturesque lawns and gardens, the 3 star Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate was once the the famous retreat of Agatha Christie.  The hotel offers modern rooms with en suite facilities, tea and coffee-making facilities, a television, and trouser press.  Just a short walk from Harrogate town centre and the famous Betty’s Tea rooms!  The hotel has a lift.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
