Looe - Our Cornish Delight

The historic twin towns of East and West Looe are located in South East Cornwall and offer everything from beautiful sandy beaches, accessible walking routes, fishing trips, unique boutiques, restaurants and bars.  Whether you come for the culture and history or just to enjoy the beach and the sea, the small coastal town of Looe has plenty to offer everyone.  We return to the ever popular Portbhyan Hotel, situated in an unrivalled position right in the heart of Looe, allowing guests to relish the panoramic views of the vibrant harbour with only a short stroll into Looe town.

Friday - Day 1

We head to Plymouth where you can discover its stunning coastline views and learn about its history and heritage on board a 1-hour harbour cruise.  Departing from The Barbican Landing Stage we sail across Plymouth Sound, flanked by the beautiful Devon and Cornish coasts.  Take in spectacular views of Plymouth Hoe and famous Drakes Island, heading for the Royal Naval Dockyard, where warships and submarines await.  We then head to the Portbyhan Hotel in Looe, after checking in spend some time relaxing over a tea or coffee admiring the spectacular views or go for a stroll around the quay before dinner.

Saturday - Day 2

We head to Cornwall's north coast and to Padstow, an ancient busy fishing port and a quaint harbour with bustling narrow streets and with pastel colour wash and stone cottages featuring quaint stores and cafes.  Home also to many Rick Stein eateries this is the perfect spot for lunch!  We then visit Boscastle - as you wander around the harbour you will begin to notice the quaint old buildings which have been converted into pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. Look out for wonky rooftops and crooked cottages, they have real character. The limekiln and storage buildings give a brief reminder of Boscastle's industrial past.

Sunday - Day 3

We visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan, one of the most mysterious estates in England.  Lost to the brambles of time since World War I, this Sleeping Beauty was re-awakened in 1990 to become Europe’s largest garden restoration project.  The historic gardens were unknown and unseen; lost to the brambles of time and it was only the chance discovery of a door in the ruins that led to its restoration.  Today Heligan’s 200 acres are a paradise for explorer, wildlife, plant lover and garden romantic and have been put back where they belong amongst the finest gardens in England.  We then finish the day in nearby Mevagissey.

Monday - Day 4

We load the coach for our homeward journey, however before we depart enjoy the morning exploring our host resort of Looe.  The small harbour is still a busy fishing port, watch the ships unload their catches, witness the auctions and then after the bustle of the quayside retreat to the narrow streets.     Here you will find an abundance of art and craft shops, boutiques, bars and specialist shops.  Looe really does have something for everyone.  Early afternoon it is back aboard the coach as we travel back to the coach meeting point where you join your feeder coach for the journey home.

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
