Picture Perfect Perthshire

Taking up a large chunk in the middle of the country, Perthshire encompasses much that makes Scotland such a draw for visitors. From the Grampians in the north to the lowlands in the south, this fine county has charm in abundance. Amongst other things, here you’ll find palaces, cathedrals, lochs, towns as diverse as Perth, with its Roman roots and Crieff, originally a spa town built around Crieff Hydro, and of course golf courses and distilleries.

Saturday - Day 1

Via the motorways we head north to our hotel in the Scottish Borders for an overnight stay.

Sunday - Day 2

We continue through Southern Scotland and enjoy a trip on the famous Falkirk Wheel, the world’s only rotating boatlift, which is used to connect the Forth & Clyde and Union canals. An exceptional feat of modern engineering, the 50 minute journey lifts the boat up to join the Union Canal 35 metres above and allows the boat to sail smoothly from The Falkirk Wheel onto the Union Canal. Then it is on Crieff and the Crieff Hydro Hotel, our base for 5 nights.

Monday - Day 3
We begin our day with a scenic drive along lesser known but no less beautiful Loch Earn, as we enter the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National park. From Loch Katrine, we embark on a 1 hour return steamship cruise, gliding past stunning Trossachs landmarks. After our cruise, we enjoy lunch in the bustling tourist town of Callander, before finishing our day with a guided tour and tasting at The Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret, Scotland’s oldest whisky distillery.

Tuesday - Day 4
This morning, we enjoy a visit to the Black Watch Castle & Museum in Perth. Located on one of Perth’s most beautiful parks, the North Inch, the museum castle dates back to the 1600s and tells the story of Scotland's elite military regiment. We enjoy lunch here or in Perth city, before visiting magnificent Scone Palace, once the crowning place of the Kings of Scotland, for a guided tour.

Wednesday - Day 5
This morning we visit Glammis Castle, before return to our host resort of Crieff for the afternoon.  The family home of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne, Glamis Castle is the legendary setting for Shakespeare's Macbeth, the childhood home of HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother and the birthplace of Princess Margaret.  As soon as you enter the Queen Mother Gates at Glamis and see the Castle's turrets and towers nestled at the end of the mile-long drive, you can't fail to be impressed by its majesty.

Thursday - Day 6
Today we visit the stunning capital city of Scotland where we have the freedom to visit any number of fantastic attractions: Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Yacht Britannia, the Royal Botanic Garden or shopping in Edinburgh’s Old Town. Why not visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse? Best known as the home of Mary, Queen of Scots,

Friday - Day 7
Today we start our journey homeward bound as we head to our overnight hotel in the borders.  En-route we stop at The Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre, Located near the historic city of Stirling and in the vicinity of the battleground, the visitor centre expertly harnesses fully-immersive 3D technology to bring this thrilling chapter of Scotland’s story to life. Come and experience medieval combat like never before and discover more about this crucial event in Scottish history

Saturday - Day 8
We continue our journey back home to the West Country

About Our Tours

We have been operating tours and mini breaks around the U.K. and abroad for a number of years, and by far the most popular innovation that we have introduced in recent years, is to offer a virtually door to door service. Picking up as near as practically possible to your home in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire means you don’t have to worry about getting your luggage to the coach, and avoids the additional cost of having to use taxis.

By using our small fleet of mini-buses, we are able to keep the pick-up time to a minimum and get you on your tour coach and on your way as soon as possible. This way your holiday starts on the first morning. Once your holiday is over we will collect you again from the coach park and return you home.
